Schubert and Liszt were very different in character. Liszt continuously looked for innovation and was passioned and inspired about many things, such as poetry, women and other genius composers. His virtuoso life stands in contrast with that of Schubert. Nevertheless, one thing makes both masters quite similar: Their gift to tell a story. Liszt admired Schubert a lot in this matter and transcribed numerous of his songs for piano solo.

This program combines one of Schubert’s most beautiful and monumental sonata’s with Liszt’s poetry, virtuosity and his urge to renew.
